You already know that here at Philly Fashionistas we’ve got MAYJAH plans to grow. So when Alise came to us asking if she could intern with us we were thrilled.
You probably also know that we’re obsessed with the way people get dressed so it made sense that one of the first assignments we gave the newest addition to our team was to show off her personal style and tell us about her take on fashion.
Alise is definitely one of those girls who pulls off the city chic look in an effortless manner while the rest of us wonder how she does it.
We asked the Temple senior to share her secrets on her personal style and how she gets dressed each AM. After all, style, intelligence, and ambition? That’s called a triple threat. Take notes.
How would you describe your style?
I would have to describe my style as effortless chic. I let my closet do the talking when I’m looking for something to wear. I choose looks that look clean and well put together. I would say that I know a good amount about style, but I know a lot about my own style.
Who are some of your style icons?
In modern times I would have to say my top three at the moment has to be Victoria Beckham, Carrie Bradshaw and Diane Kruger. I think all three ladies represent my style. Victoria always makes a statement with her pieces, Carrie rocks designer labels on and off the screen, and Diane street styles are always effortless yet well put together. Also I would have to say June Ambrose as well, she is the ultimate stylist.
Who is your favorite fashion designer?
I would say that my favorite shoe designer is Jimmy Choo and my favorite designer, well I won’t say favorite because I don’t think I can choose, but it would have to be between Valentino and Zuhair Murad.
Where are some of your favorite places to shop?
“Some of my favorite places to shop are Forever 21, because they make clothing based on todays trends at affordable prices. I like to shop at Pac Sun because I believe they’re the best-kept secret when it comes to finding great edgy pieces to spice up your wardrobe”.
How do you put together an outfit?
“When I’m putting an outfit together I always envision myself wearing a possible outfit first. It makes me think of the movie “Clueless” when Alicia Silverstone goes to pick out her outfit using a computer program. Well I do exactly that, just without the computer. I usually have an idea of what I want to wear and from there I go to my closet and work some magic. I start with my top and that usually determines the rest of my outfit”.
