On Sunday local designer Michael Thomas gave us a peek at what he’s been working on for his Faithful by Michael Thomas line.
With his Winter 2013 collection, he showed his maturity and his range. He diverged from his usual ultra girly formal wear and unveiled what he called an, “androgynous menswear look” that had nautical roots.
The decision to do so was a wise one. The white suit with the cropped blazer and perfectly tailored wide leg pants stood out to us as an outfit we instantly wanted. But if you were feeling like the gold buttons made the suit one you couldn’t wear to work, that was by design.
When we asked who he had in mind as he worked on the collection Thomas simply said, “housewives.”
There’s no doubt that Thomas has a flair for drama and as wearable as this collection is, that hasn’t left him. Thomas is coy and playful in this collection teasing us with looks that we want to wear during the day, but that are more appropriate for night. If you’re taking requests though Michael, we’d love to see your take on day wear.
Of all the designers in Philadelphia Thomas is among the most promising. His star will continue to rise.
What were your thoughts on the collection?
