What’s the main difference you notice between how Americans dress and how people dress when you are in other countries?
The most obvious thing to me is that Americans play it more safe. They’re less of risk takers in their sense of style. When you go to Europe or you go to Asia, people who are considered stylish or fashionable are really people who are considered to have done something that’s really different than the norm while here you see a lot of the same. In winters it’s always really dark but if you go to Europe for example you’ll see someone wearing orange pants. It will still be a winter style, you know boots and it’s all dressed up and layered but those flash or colors, those accessories, they’re things that you don’t really see here.
So for you color is a big thing then?
Yes, I very much like to dress in a very simple elegance and then there’s one piece whether it’s jewelry that’s a hot pink crystals or shoes or something that just pops color. That’s something that a lot of people say I do a lot.
So, what are some things the American woman could do to spruce up their style?
I think they should just be less afraid of what other people are going to say because honestly a lot of people are going to pay attention to you and say like, “Woah those pants are really crazy.” So a lot of people might be kind of like, you might feel uncomfortable the first time you do that, but you’ll see that the attention is not really all that bad. It’s really scary and I understand why people would be nervous the first time but its different and that’s what make you feel unique.
What [clothing] items are you loving right now?
- I am loving my electric blue blazer.
- I am really liking the white pants during winter trend
- Wedges- I usually don’t wear wedges too often but when it’s really cold and you want to go out they are so comfortable.
Orianne’s Rules for how to wear white pants for winter:
Wear something darker on top and a dark coat- don’t go too spring or too summery or you might actually get cold.
What are some trends that you’re hating right now?
The big wooly headbands can look really tacky. Stay away from those!
