Sometimes the things we buy are more than just a purchase. Sometimes a mere five dollars will buy you a cute bag that will not only store your makeup or coins, but it will also help women in developing countries to earn an income with which they can feed their families. This is the case with Profugo’s collection of tribal styled totes, bags, wallets, and coin purses.
Profugo is a local non-profit on a global mission to give persons in developing countries the tools they need to build a better life. One way they do this is by teaching the women in Wayanad, India the basics of tailoring and how to create handcrafted products which are sold at the Profugo store with 100% of the profits made going back to the fund community projects.
We were very happy to review the line of bags they sell on their site.
While we can see many great uses for all of the bags such as toting around laptops and lunches for work, towels and books at the beach, or gym clothes and shoes for your workouts, we especially loved the unique look of the small coin purse and the zipper wallet. These are items that all of your friends won’t own and when they ask you where you bought yours, you can tell them the bags unique story.
These bags are the hope of an entire village that is looking to boost itself out of poverty one stitch at a time. You should be proud to open your wallet and your heart to this purchase.
